Tata Motors NVH Improvement Research
The Tata Nano was designed to disrupt the automotive and transportation markets in India. The low cost car would enable India's families to transition from two wheeled transport to four and change the way they travel. However, the vehicle was not been commercially successful upon its launch in 2008. This is in part due to the low quality and user experience of the vehicle. For a graduate level design course taught by Professor Amos Winter at MIT, my team worked to improve the sound and noise quality of the vehicle. We had frequent contact with our partners at Tata Technologies while we worked to independently design a solution to high noise levels inside the vehicle. I led the investigation of active noise control for interior passengers and potential exhaust noise reduction methods.
